Jam with us on June 15th!

Aimed at everyone who has an interest in affordable housing, from the general public, to designers, planners and architects, to philanthropists, students, non profits and financial institutions, the re:THINK HOUSING JAM is a constructive and creative way to get new perspectives on how we deal with Vancouver’s affordable housing crisis.

The event will also be an opportunity for participants to develop projects for the open ideas competition on housing affordability currently being run by the City of Vancouver (submission deadline is June 29, 2012). Read more about the City of Vancouver’s Ideas Competition here: http://vancouver.ca/housing/rethink/index.htm

As a collaboration between the City of Vancouver, Gen Why Media and the Vancouver Design Nerds, the re:THINK HOUSING JAM is designed to help the Mayor’s Task Force on Housing Affordability set out its goals and priorities for the future of housing in Vancouver. Our goal is to generate provocative, bold new ideas while hosting a solution-based discussion that addresses Vancouver’s affordability challenge head-on.

Entry is free and all are welcome. Bring a friend, an open mind, and of course – ideas.

Where: The HiVE, 128 West Hastings Street #210
When: June 15th, 6:30-10pm

Lets have fun and help build an affordable city together.

Special thanks to our media partners!

The re:THINK HOUSING JAM is a pilot event for a new citizen-led initiative called the Civic Renewal Lab. The Civic Renewal Lab is a creative interface between decision-makers and citizens devoted to facilitating, promoting and supporting the use of art, design, media and constructive dialogue to foster better citizenship. Our goal is to shift citizens from being consumers to active shapers of policies, programs, public space and civic services.
